Envirothon
The Envirothon is an outdoor learning competition for high school students in grades 9-12, which is one of the states largest environmental education initiatives.
Each year the Freeborn County SWCD partners with 9 neighboring SWCDs to sponsor a Southeast Area

What is the Envirothon?
Envirothon in which teams compete in 5 environmental learning stations (soils, wildlife, water resources, forestry, and a current environmental issue).

Natural resource professionals staff the stations and provide a short presentation on a natural resources topic, which is then followed by a test taken by the teams.

The top three teams advance to the State Envirothon Competition and winners at the State level advance to the National Envirothon where they compete for scholarships and other prizes.
